Yep, PPC Gets You The Traffic Faster

June 23rd, 2009

Pay Per Click marketing or PPC, as it’s more commonly called, is now a vital part of advertising for many a business owner. Whatever product or service you are selling, you can’t make a sale if potential customers don’t visit your website. PPC marketing drives targeted traffic to your website, increasing sales and profits. You pay a set amount per click; usually between 1 cent and up to a dollar or more.

Keyword Bidding

In general, with PPC marketing, you bid on your chosen keyword or keyphrase. To get into the sponsored results, you select your keyword and then enter into an auction process against other advertisers looking for the same type of traffic. After performing a search on a search engine, the sponsored ads are the ones that show up first. In most cases, to get to the top of the ladder, you bid the most money per click. The next highest bid garners you a second place spot, and so on.

It isn’t always worth your while shooting for the top spot because you may get curiousity clicks from non buyers. Oftentimes, a top five placement will generate the desired traffic just as effectively. A lot of it depends on how much competition there is for the keyword that you are after. It’s a good idea to experiment with your ad placement until you find the best combination of cost vs results.

Getting Profitable Clicks

PPC marketing is a great advertising model to generate immediate and predictable traffic. However, like anything else: The devil is in the details. You can pay for clicks to your website all day long, but if that traffic doesn’t generate actual sales, you are wasting your precious advertising dollars.

Your goal, I imagine, is to generate paying customers to your website. You will want to give the person exactly what it is they are looking for when they type in their search phrase. Your ultimate goal should be quality over quantity. Focus more on substance rather than hype in your advertisements. You are paying money for those clicks remember so make them count.

Often people start out with 7Search Pay Per Click PPC where they are sometimes able to get targeted traffic for a penny a click.
