How to make use of Social Networking to Further Yourself.

February 15th, 2010

Individuals say that you want to be on Facebook or other social networking sites otherwise you don’t exist. I am now beginning to agree with those who say it. If you desire to actually know something about the life of your friends or fellow workers, you just need social networking sites. If you don’t use these types of site then it’s very awkward to keep in touch.

Nevertheless, staying informed about the life of your mates and acquaintances surely is not the only purpose of such websites. Another use of social websites is advertising yourself and attracting business especially if you are a real estate agent. Newspaper advertising, Leaflets and Billboards are ‘old hat’ and businesses need to go with the computer age. Using and advertising on the internet is now the way to go with the times. If you have an internet connection, it is not hard to find help and recommendations on making full use of social networking.

Of course it’s much more demanding for older generations to get used to all the hundreds of new websites, systems of writing, commenting and all the related tasks. For the older generation it is going to take time to wade through, whereas children seem to know how to do it naturally. We keep going and try our best to learn it all. I don’t accept it’s just me that feels like that and lots of my fellow realtors are finding it just as time consuming.

After working all day its not surprising we come home shattered, so it’s hard to sum up the energy to find interesting things to talk about on blogs or make posts on social websites such as facebook and twitter. But, saying that it’s does become a slice of our daily routine. Instead of sitting down in front of the TV, resting now means sitting in front of a computer and writing on social networking sites. Is it in vain, or are the public bothered or care about what we write about? For all the effort we put into our blogs and posts, are only fellow realtors reading it? Is there an solution to that question, I don’t think so.

Personally because the articles are of interest to me, I do read and look at the websites of my fellow real estate representatives. But who knows whether their features also draw ordinary individuals (I don’t mean this in a negative way, of course), the job of whom is not involved with real estate at all. So now I don’t have to get together or talk to my colleagues often to know what is going on with their lives, I can read about it in their websites and posts. I know now more about individuals that I haven’t spoken to for ages due to the internet and the social network web pages. Which is certainly wonderful.

As a realtor I deal Condominiums Toronto, and I consider social networking to be one of the key ways of making professional contacts. Therefore I hope this small article was of any help for you!
